Verify a domain's SPF record to check which mail servers are authorized to send email on its behalf.

Lookup SPF Record

What is SPF?

SPF (Sender Policy Framework) is an email authentication method that specifies which mail servers are authorized to send email on behalf of your domain. It helps prevent email spoofing and improves deliverability.

An SPF record is published as a DNS TXT record at your domain's root. It lists the IP addresses and servers allowed to send mail for that domain.

SPF Record FAQs

Frequently asked questions about Sender Policy Framework and SPF record validation.

An SPF record lookup queries your domain's DNS for a Sender Policy Framework record. This TXT record lists all authorized IP addresses and servers that can send emails using your domain name.

When an email server receives a message from your domain, it looks up the SPF record to see if the sending server's IP is listed. If the IP is unauthorized, the server flags the email, preventing spoofers from impersonating you.

SPF lists authorized senders, while DMARC specifies what receiving servers should do (e.g., quarantine or reject) if SPF or DKIM checks fail. We recommend checking your domain with our DMARC lookup tool as well.

Our annual Website Launch Growth Kit automatically handles standard email DNS routing. If you use external mailing lists or CRM services, you can easily update the SPF record inside your control panel or contact our L3 support engineers.
